Agnes is an art doll inspired by Agnes Sampson, known from the North Berwick Witch trials.
She was a widow, healer and midwife from East Lothian, Scotland.
Agnes was accused of Witchcraft after a storm at sea swallowed part of the fleet of the future wife of King James VI; Anne of Denmark.

She was tortured and finally came to confess to have made a pact with the devil.
Agnes was burnt at the stake in Edinburgh under King James' rule in 1591,

The doll is made of cloth and clay.
A small amethyst bursts out of a little flower from her chest.

Her dress is made of antique Christening gown from which glass bangles and beads hang. Her hair is made with lovely brown reddish mohair and has little cloth ribbons in it.
She measures approx 50 cm's and can be displayed on the wall using the hook on her back
